Pain Perdu (Cajun "French" Toast)

3 eggs
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 cup evaporated milk
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
10 to 12 slices stale French bread

Mix first five ingredients together. Soak the bread in this mixture for about 30 minutes, turning once to make sure the bread is completely coated.

Melt some butter in a skillet and cook the bread on both sides. Serve with powdered sugar or Steen's Cane Syrup.
